Understanding Trade Unions in the Automotive Industry
Objective:
Students will gain an understanding of trade unions, focusing on their role in the automotive industry, using the United Auto Workers (UAW) case study as a reference point.
Duration: 2 class periods (45 minutes each)
Materials Needed:
● Case study on trade unions in the automotive industry
● Whiteboard and markers
● Handouts with discussion questions
● Internet access for research
Homework focusing on the four factors of production. Could be used in conjuction with a range of Business Studies courses. Three activities are included & answers to the questions are included on the second slide.

This resource would be a great introduction for students to any business studies course as it encourages students to think and discuss what skills are needed to start a business and why someone might decide to setup their own business. Included in this lesson there is a powerpoint, two worksheets and a link to an online game that covers the learning objectives.

To be able to explain the difference between goods and services.
This homework activity is designed to engage students in understanding the complexities of business failure. Students will explore real-world examples of failed businesses, analyze the reasons behind their failure, and propose strategies that could have potentially prevented these failures.
This activity encourages critical thinking, research skills, and provides valuable insights into the world of business. It can be used in a business, economics, or entrepreneurship class as a standalone homework assignment or as part of a larger unit on business management.
